In addition to growing food, it is part of our mission to educate our community and unite its members through fun, engaging, educational, fulfilling programs for all.
Newhall Fields is committed to making the farm and its resources accessible to everyone– therefore, all our events and programs are offered at sliding-scale rates or by suggested donation. We are also proud to participate in the Mass Cultural Council’s Card to Culture program, which offers EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts. Visit the Mass Cultural Council website to see the complete list of participating organizations. We look forward to welcoming you and your family to our community events!

Wild Edibles Walk & Talk with Russ Cohen
The North Shore is home to over 80 species of edible wild plants, some of which are more nutritious and/or flavorful than their cultivated counterparts. These include native species, like Beach Plum and Black Raspberry; non-native weeds, like Chicory and Burdock; and invasive species, like Black Locust and Japanese Knotweed. Join Russ Cohen, author of the book Wild Plants I Have Known…and Eaten, for a 2-hour late-afternoon ramble through Newhall Fields Community Farm to learn about at least 18 species of edible wild plants. Keys to the identification of each species will be provided, along with info on edible portion(s), season(s) of availability and preparation methods, as well as guidelines for safe, ethical and environmentally-responsible foraging.
